Many will tell you that you can’t change anyone, that they must hit rock bottom and even that if they don’t “want the help” it won’t help.
They advise you not to even try. Those are the myths that keep families and friends from helping their loved ones plan and roll out an interventions experience more like a family brunch than the intervention you see on television. Don’t get me wrong – it’s not easy, but it is simple.
If you spend some time with me, watching this video series and reading my book HOW TO HELP THE ONE YOU LOVE, you will understand:
How to intervene with impact and love, to help someone who has been saying NO to help
Reimagine intervention as a family meeting that starts with an invitation to attend and ends with the intervention team members and your loved one changing for good
You have the power to usher in change, but most of us don’t know how to tap into it. I will give you the faith to act and turn your hopes into the ability to LISTEN FOR YES.
You can start by watching the videos below, and sign up for the free version of my book, How to Help Someone You Love, on this page.

If your loved one has Medicaid or Medicare, there may be local resources available.
We always recommend that families participate in group sessions to begin their own healing alongside a loved one. It’s the same theory as putting on your oxygen mask first, before helping the person next to you. Peer-to-peer groups can provide real help, encouragement, and guidance to you and your family members. Find one in your area or join an online group. Wherever you are, we encourage you to join a group.
We’ve removed the biggest barrier – cost- in as many places as possible so you can focus on what truly matters: helping your loved one find their way back. Our free resources are designed to give you a clear plan, the right words, and the confidence to act, even when the situation feels urgent and overwhelming.
The right time is now, and help is here.
If you need more support beyond these free tools, consider scheduling a low-cost virtual intervention to help guide your family step-by-step through the crisis.
